I don't write poetry, but I liked this one. Perhaps it's a short story formatted like a poem? I couldn't decide. Notice the circular ending (the end repeats a word, phrase, or sentence from the beginning). Circular endings tend to impart a "finished" feel to a story.

Bumper

This is my dog, Bumper.
Annoying is the dog that demands his noonday snack and eats Kleenex's.
Bashful is the dog that pees on feet then regrets it.
Courageous is the dog that barks at larger dogs.
Dead meat is a dog that chews a four-inch section from the couch.
Exercise is the dog that chases rats, birds and balls then flips toads over for fun.
Happiness is a dog's wagging tail for it tells how his master treats him.
Healthy is the dog that's not afraid of the vet.
Hungry is the dog that knows when it's feeding time and growls if you near.
Inquisitive is the dog that shoots out the backdoor, checking the perimeter.
Jealous is the dog that barks during phone conversations.
Lonely is the dog that cries when his master walks alone down the street.
Master of his domain is the dog that challenges anything in the backyard.
Noisy is the dog that sings when the train whistles.
Opinionated is the dog that barks at new furniture.
Patient is the dog that waits for his master to hide during hide-and-seek.
Playful is the dog that chews your fingers.
Ravenous is the dog that eats his food with growling, gulping noises.
Recognized is the dog that howls when other dogs howl.
Scared is the dog that hides under the bed when you say the word bath.
Suspicious is the dog that barks at the doorbell.
Uplifting is the dog that stares at the sparrow sharpening his beak like a knife blade on the rain gutter.
Well trained is the dog that shakes your hand, fetches the ball, and sits.
This is my dog, Bumper.
