This page shows the industry relative strength rankings for all of the stocks and industries that I follow on a
daily basis. This gives you not only the relative performance of the industries, but the entire list of stocks that
fill my portfolio (no, I do not own them all...I usually hold less than 10 issues).
For information on why industry
relative strength is so important, see Industry Relative Strength. A rank of 1 is the
best performing industry, and it is listed first, below, followed by the list of stocks comprising the industry. Since
industry relative strength information is rare, I will update the list once a week, after Friday’s close.
Not all of the industries shown below were included in the industry relative strength research study. Excluded
were ETFs (Investment Co. (foreign and domestic) and any market index or average.
Download Information
Note: Several of the files below have not been updated with symbol information. For the most current list of stocks, you can download the RSStocks.xls file. The symbols are listed on the far right of the sheet (column O, unless it moved).
If you do not own Excel, then you can get the list from here, which is the same as the Industry Performance list of stocks below, except that it is formatted in html.
If you need the symbols ONLY, then I can provide
it, but be sure you reference this web page in your email, otherwise I will likely send you back here. Email me.
For the symbols used in the chart pattern indicator, they are updated as the list changes and are available/discussed in #5 below.
1. Tom Helget (email THelget@aol.com) has put together several files to make downloading
stocks in the industry list easier. The first is a spreadsheet that updates the quote information automatically to generate
the industry strength list. It uses XLQ
(http://www.qmatix.com/XLQ.htm) add-on for Excel to collect the data from Yahoo. The file has not been updated for recent symbol additions. See the above Note.
2a. Tom Helget has another file for MLDownloader (.mld extension). It is a list of symbols to make downloading the industry
files for MLDownloader easier. The file is contained in a zip file with item 2b, below.
The file has not been updated for recent symbol additions. See the above Note.
2b. Tom built a comma separated values (.csv) file that lists the stocks used in my database. Along with 2a above, it
is located in a compressed file here: RSFiles.zip. The .csv file is a text file compatible
with Excel/word processor/spreadsheet programs. The file has not been updated for recent symbol additions. See the above Note.
3. The next file is an Excel spreadsheet showing industry performance over the prior day, week, month, 3, and 6
months. You can download it by clicking here. I update it weekly.
4. The last file is an Excel spreadsheet showing a list of stock performance over the prior day, week, month, 3, and 6
months. You can download it by clicking here. I update it weekly.
5. The most recent list of symbols used in the chart pattern indicator can be downloaded from the list or viewed here, including changes to the list.
